In a study of 734 subjects, homocysteine levels were found to be highest in subjects with the lowest intake of folic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin B622. L-Arginine, has been reported to reduce blood homocysteine levels as well as decrease blood pressure since it plays a role in increasing the availability of nitric oxide, an important vasodilator in humans.
Vitamin B6 and B12, Folic Acid and L-Arginine are added since their synergy is found more effective than any one ingredient alone in facilitating the proper function of homocysteine recycling (detoxification).
