What is Carrot Essence?
Carrot Essence is a good source of the antioxidant combination of beta-carotene and vitamin C since it is made with fresh, whole organic carrots and acerola berries. We also add in maltodextrin, a complex carbohydrate, to stabilize and protect the delicate nutrients in the powder.
Why Do We Need Carrot Essence?
After over 30 years of scientific research, the medical community and nutrition experts all agree that antioxidants, especially beta-carotene and vitamin C, play important roles in keeping us healthy. One important way these nutrients help us is by neutralizing free radicals before they can cause serious damage to our tissues.
How Is Carrot Essence Made?
Organically certified, the fresh carrots in Carrot Essence are harvested at their nutritional peak, then washed, and juiced. As with our other supplements, the concentrated juice is spray-dried at low temperatures to protect the nutrients.
Maltodextrin, a complex carbohydrate, is added to Carrot Essence (to coat and protect the nutrients from harmful oxidation) along with Acerola, a high quality natural antioxidant powder made from the Acerola berry, which is one of the most potent sources of natural vitamin C. Carrot Essence contains no added sugar, salt, colorings or fillers, and is free of animal products, soy, wheat, and yeast.
Carrot Essence provides 55% of Vitamin C and 350% of the RDI for vitamin A in a single serving (as beta-carotene, which the body converts into Vitamin A). Vitamin A is important for maintaining healthy skin, eyesight, mucous membranes, and the function of the immune system and is vital to the liver's processing of protein. It's also essential to promoting strong teeth and bones. Unlike vitamin A, beta-carotene is non-toxic since our bodies make only the necessary amount of vitamin A from beta-carotene. When there is sufficient vitamin A in the body, the conversion of beta-carotene to vitamin A ceases.
