The Sea-Band Company was originally formed in the late eighties to manufacture and introduce to the market an acupressure wristband to help alleviate nausea and vomiting. The Sea-Band was invented by a doctor who applied the Chinese principle of acupressure, acupuncture without the needles, to the treatment of seasickness. This proved to work well and with the encouragement and support of Sea-Band Ltd, trials were carried out to test the Sea-Band for travel sickness and the treatment of nausea in pregnancy, post-operative surgery and chemotherapy. Thanks to the success of the Sea-Band, currently used by hospitals as well as the general public, the Company has become a leader in the field of acupressure products and non-pharmacological personal health products and has a considerable range to choose from.
Sea-Band Ltd aims to offer products which are genuine drug free alternatives for the treatment of common ailments. The Company sells its products in over 50 countries and operates in both the UK and USA and through distributors in other parts of the world. The growth of the Company necessitated a move to larger UK premises in 2000 and a Pharmacy Distribution business was acquired in 2001.
