Tooth and gum problems are usually associated with getting older. However, according to the American Dental Association, three out of four adults over the age of 35 have some form of gum disease. Gum disease not only affects the health of gums and teeth, but also is associated with heart disease, diabetes and respiratory problems. Emphasizing the importance of this problem, the Surgeon General has recently issued a report on oral health evaluating the interaction between oral health and general health.
A few years ago, my son went for a regular dental checkup and was told his gums were in such bad shape that his teeth may need to be removed because they would probably fall out. After a second opinion, he was sent to a periodontist who diagnosed him with severe periodontal disease. The periodontist began to treat him with antibiotics and deep cleanings, but after the infection is treated, he was told he would have to have surgery to reduce the depth of the gum pockets. After hearing this, he asked me what natural methods were available. After much research, I combined several herbal extracts and essential oils, which were reported to be beneficial to gum health. I told him to mix it with water and rinse with it every morning and night. He was skeptical, but figured he had nothing to lose except his teeth. A few weeks later, he went back to the periodontist for a checkup and cleaning. The periodontist noted the pockets went down a little and the gums looked healthier, but he would still need surgery. He said to the periodontist let's wait till my next checkup. A few months later, at his cleaning and checkup, the periodontist noticed the pockets had gone down quite a bit. A big improvement, but surgery would still be needed. Again, my son said let's wait.
At his next checkup, the pockets had gone down more and his gums were pink and healthy. The periodontist was pleased with the progress. They both agreed to hold off on the surgery. At his next visit, his gums were still in good enough shape to avoid surgery. What is amazing is that his gum pockets receded and overall gum health improved without surgery. He still uses the solution regularly to keep his gums healthy. When I talked to family and friends about my son's success, they said they had gum problems too and were planning on or already had the gum surgery. They were willing to try almost anything, so they started using the solution and like my son, they saw improvements.
We felt we started something good. So we decided to make this available to the public. What was amazing was that almost every person we talked to as we planned to launch this product had and/or knew someone with periodontal problems. We named the product PERI-GUM !!!
