Maca Root is grown and harvested in the mountains of Peru. Grown at elevations of 9000 to 11000 feet, Maca plants are subjected to fierce winds, severe sunlight and intense cold. Maca is a root vegetable or tuber that is ready to harvest 6 to 7 months after planting. Maca tubers can be boiled or dried and have a sweet, tangy taste and an aroma similar to butterscotch. Maca (Lepidium Meyennii) has been traditionally used to enhance fertility in men and women, increase energy, stamina, libido, and sexual performance.
