In the native Tahitian language, Monoi (pronounced Mon-oy) translates to scented oil. It is a completely natural product which has long been revered by Polynesians for its skin moisturizing virtues. Monoi is specific to French Polynesia and is traditionally made from tiare pronounced Tee-a-ray) flowers (Gardenia tahitensis) soaked in the highest grade coconut oil.
The manufacturer, near Papeete, Tahiti, selects the choicest fresh coconuts from their plantation to make the Monoi Tahiti products, just as they have been doing since 1942. They are the original Monoi company and the first to market their line around the globe. You get the same high quality whether you buy them in Paris or Papeete.
The coconut oil goes through a multi-step separation process, which results in a smaller molecule oil, making it easier to penetrate and moisturize the skin. The native tropical flowers of French Polynesia lend their essences to the coconut oil, and together they provide a satin smooth feel and a delicate, enticing aroma.
Monoi Tiare oils are ideal for deep tanning, dry skin, as a bath moisturizer, an alluring fragrance, a sensuous massage, or nourishing the hair to give it a healthy shine and fewer tangles. Also, Tahitian women enjoy its ability to enhance the skin during pregnancy and reduce the number of stretch marks afterwards.
Please note that because of its tropically grown ingredients, Monoi oil solidifies at temperatures below 68 F (20 C). This is a natural process that occurs because genuine Monoi contains no emulsifiers to keep it in a liquid state. Simply place the container in warm water to return it to a golden liquid form. Solidifying and warming will not affect the original properties of Monoi.
Monoi Tiare Tahiti is a French-Tahitian cosmetic oil consisting of pure coconut oil and the fragrance of "Tiare", the Tahitian Gardenia. The product is a refinement of an ancient Polynesian beauty secret and has been manufactured commercially since 1942.
